Floor board rust!!!! (rats)
Ok, I have discovered that I have some rust that needs to be cut out and replaced with sheet metal. What gauge sheet metal should I use on a 1986 jeep cherokee fornt floor boards? The trunk may need some to. I'm just doing a square foot tops. Thanks.

I got my front floorboards replacement panels from raybuck www.raybuck.com around 80 bucks a piece. the rear seat and trunk area I cut the sides out of an old clothes dryer sitting around that was scrap. Y pay for sheet metal when its probably lying around somebodys backyard. my buddy told me to take it he was tired of looking at it.

know what you mean. the salt has eaten up and spit out my rocker panels like baby food. i'm surprised though that the floors are solid all the way through.

Thanks for the info guys. I've got a small rust hole above my muffler, at least that's all I can see before pulling the carpets.

i've re-done 3 of my previous XJ's with 18 and 22 guage steel.... i don't think i spent more than $40 on any of them.... yes its a little more time consuming but i was able to completely reinforce the floors and then rhino line and good to go

As to the rhino lining, I was going to use herculiner (the stuff you do yourself) Thanks to every one. I think 16 guage is the magic #?
