Default flexplate noise?

i've been working on diagnosing a knock i have in a 90 xj 4.0... i've watched several videos and the noise sounds a lot like flexplate issues. the only thing different i've noticed about my noise, is that it allmost completely goes away if i rev it up past 4k and let it idle back down. i did find that one of the flexplate bolts was pretty loose and there may be a crack in it.

my question is why would it stop ticking after a high rev like that? it eventually comes back if i let it idle for a while. the ticking sound seems to be twice the speed of the timing and i pulled plugs one at a time to see if it was associated with a certain cylinder. the stethoscope seeeeeems to be pointing to the bellhousing.

Only one was loose? I pull then one at a time, wire-wheel the bolt threads, add LocTite and reinstall. Repeat 3 more times.
