Fixed AC Evap. Now Heater Core Leaking

Hey everyone - Just picked up a 1999 XJ and had a pre-purchase inspection done with a recommended mechanic. He diagnosed the A/C not working as a leaking evaporator. $1,000 later I have working A/C but when I left the shop coolant was leaking from the Heater Core.

The mechanic is acting like it's a coincidence but i'm wondering if he damaged it while he had the dashboard out. Are the evaporator and heater core pretty close to each other or is this just bad luck?

I believe it's next to each other. It's always recommended to replace both heater core and evaporator at the same time. Lol
