Fitting In My Cherokee
I am 6'5" and I have a '97 2 door cherokee with a 3 inch lift and 31's (but that doesn't matter). Its a tight fit inside with me and I was wondering if there is a Seat Track Extension kit out there for my jeep. I have looked but I can not find one. Does anyone have any tips, suggestions, or idea's. The only thing that I can think of is moving the whole seat back. :help:
Thanks, Jeff |
I heard of one but take the back seat out and get aftermarket seats.

That is what I would do if I had a 2 door. Just unbolt it and move it back. You may have to fab up some type of brackets to keep the seat level once you move it back. Some ppl remove their back seats entirely to accomodate a more and flatter cargo area.
Let us know what you decide to do and as I always suggest take plenty of pictures. |
Yes level seat are awsome. Sister broke my driver now it like a rocking chair.

I'm 6'6" and I fit fine in my 89 2-door which is much roomier than the wife's 01 4-door,
the seats in my 89(not sure if your newer bodystyle 2-door is same) have all four bolts on the flat portion of the floor not on the tranny tunnel so I would say movin it back would be easy. |
If you are uncomfortable you will need to relocate your brackets/and or fab up some new ones.

Shoulda bought a '96. ;)
My ex girlfriend's dad loved my 2-door cuz he could actually fit in it at 6'6". The longer doors made it easier to get in and out of, and the lack of anything fancy and electrical made the dashboard a lot shorter, not to mention the lack of other creature comforts that take up interior space. But since you're stuck with your '97, could you pull the sliders and move them back a few inches, re-drill and fasten, and seal up the old holes? |
yea i want to do this too, hte seats in cherokees are too far forward, and in a 2 door they should definitly slide further back.
alienboy finny, mine broke too and it did that crap and i hated it, i got a new set of seats from a 4 door but they dont slide forward with that elbow latch thing the way the old ones did so its even harder getting ppl in the back. but now this seat is doing the same thing! maybe i sit on it side ways or somehting haha |
I tell you what when I want to rock to sleep I just hop in the driver seat and rock. It's that bad.
|
yea mine had tie downs holding it down for a while, new one just started squeeking. screw it finny lets just get sparco racing seats :)
|
Get some suspenion seats that way when you hit a hole you don't feel it.
