Fender Flairs
 

I want to remove my stock fender flairs and give them a new look. I have searched here but cant specifically find the info I need. How do they come off? I havent looked yet as I just decided to do this. Figured I'd ask now and hopefully have the answer when I attempt to do it, hopefully tomorrow.

There are special brackets that sandwich the flare against the fender. There are studs that protrude on the inside of the fender. Clean with a wire brush before attempting to remove the nuts. The studs are covered with crud and the nuts snap off the studs when attempting to remove.

There nuts on the back side of the flares that hold them on. loosen them. Use pb blaster first the bolts will brake if they are rusty.

So if these bolts ring off are they replaceable or are they studs made into the retainers? Don't want to end up worse than I am now.

I just took mine off. And all of the studs broke. I think they are but not sure!

If the bolts break off don't worry. I drilled the m.5x .8 and replaced them with .6x.1. then drilled and re-tapped the nuts. It's worth the effort cause if you don't use them you can sell them.

Got them off last night. Yes they all eventually broke. Managed to salvage the right front as I was able to remove the flair by just loosening the nuts. Removed the old bolts from the retainers and just gonna insert a maching screw with a lock washer.

Why in the world did they use such long bolts?:brickwall: Mine would back off several turns but the length of the corroded bolt was the real problem. Oh well, from what I have read here I guess I should just to get use to wringing off bolts :grin:
