So hitting the last lap on my daily before I head to the dmv to put her on the road. Took it for a drive the other day and found out I only have front brakes ( no biggie, waiting on springs from rock auto to rebuild ). Another thing I noticed that I'm not sure how to diagnose, is that when I hit a pothole, or uneven road it feels like the front end bottoms out ( like a strut sound, drumming up and down) basically like I ran over a midget and he's beating the underside with a mallet. Is there a measurement that anyone knows of for coil springs to test sag, like center rim to fender. Want to rule that out. And I'm going to be buying shocks from rock auto and a stabilizer while I'm at it, brand suggestions?

17.5" from center of wheel to bottom of fender flare.
Do you have bump stops in place? I feel like it's not bottoming out the suspension, but there's something else going on. I'm not really sure based on your description.

Spring towers are fine, pretty sure it's the shocks, it sounds like when a strut is going bad, like someone hitting a drum. The whole front end feels like it smashes down when going over bumps. Going to replace shocks, front and back, but while I'm in there I'm going to check springs. Only other thing I can think of are CA's

coil springs rarely ever sag, try your new shocks and make sure the swaybar end link isn't touching the coil spring.
i assume you're at stock height?

Be sure to check your bushings...had same kind of noise turned out being sway bar bushing desperately needed to be replaced i know usually not this easy but better to check out easiest stuff first before driving yourself crazy

When I bought mine sounded the same, one shock was bent badly and 2 others were completely worn out could push and pull in and out without hardly any force. They would bottom out on any bump and the bent one didn't move at all.

I bet you have a busted strut. Check your struts for resistance, and for oil seeping on the outside.
He's right about the springs- they usually don't sag bad enough to bottom out...ever.
Buy struts off rockauto- 20$ a piece for econ build.
My rears are shot, so if I have 4 passengers and hit a speed bump, I bottom the rear end out.
