fan shroud ez job...oh no
it looked ez. 3 bolts to remove, 2 to mount. the one near the batt was rusty and smaller. i tried 3/8, 5/16, vice grips, finally pulled out the cutoff grinder, found a new wheel and got rid of it.
one of the others came right out with 10 mm ratchet, looking good. the next slipped on 10mm, needed 3/8. ya never know!.
shroud would not pass the fan clutch without risking rad fin damage so my first trip to my work truck, "circle saw" i trimmed a half inch off the bottom.
got one side in but the shroud was binding. the opening in the metal where the tabs go was 8 inches and the round part of shroud was apx 10 - 11. back to the saw and whacked off the bottom .
now its 'u" shaped. got tabs in for first time and after dropping the hdwe twice i got it in solid. about 75 minutes for a 10 minute job.
ive been driving without one for 6 mo and my only concern was chopping my fingers. might help cool in summer..
aint nuttin ez on a jeep..

Yeah, I think over time the engine shifts forward a bit and makes it tougher to slide out the shroud. Simple tasks can get complicated on these old Jeeps.

^ Correct, shroud and fan are installed/removed together. Fan bolts are easily reached with an extension on wrench.

Doesn't affect the integrity. Some are originals that I modded 9 years ago.
Just irritates me when working on them to pull the fan clutch each time when 20 seconds with a cutoff wheel works great.
I have 4 of my own and work on others for certain people........
