Fan Jumper off Ignition, ok to upgrade instrument fuse to 10a?
Ran a fan jumper through the fuse block, off of an ignition slot. However, it must share the instrument fuse. Throwing the switch a few times will blow the 7.5a fuse. I moved up to a 10a fuse, which holds it just fine. I don't see a problem with this, as any short will still move the current high enough to blow the 10a fuse, while the fan is running. Has anyone else done this, or had a problem with it? Or is there another way?
I just rather have the fan shut down if the ignition is off, to avoid any dead battery mishaps

a bigger fuse may damage your system

if you wire a fan on a fuse or toggle switch your on borrowed time..............most elec fan have a high amp spike on start up....which will could melt your wiring....you need to do research on how many max amps the fan you wired up uses and get the right relay. Melted wire harneses arnt fun.......ask me how i know!

Any other way, and you're just rigging it. If you understand how a relay works, then you should apprecieate its function.

the main purpose is the Constant hott is taken from the battery and all you need is a little switched 12v source...which has no draw once the relay opens............

Oh yeah, well familiar with relays, just trying to avoid adding one more box in under the hood. I went ahead and installed one however. I have been considering replacing the aux fan with a higher performance model anyhow, so figured I might as well put the relay in anyhow. Not sure if will go so far as to replace the clutch fan however. I have had very poor luck with completely electrical cooling fan systems in the past.
