Hi, really confused here, turned engine of, now it won't start, replaced the following items, ignition switch, key cylinder lock, starter, starter re-lay. getting a faint clicking from somewhere under hood, not the starter, I can jump the starter solenoid and cause starter to spin but it does not engage flywheel, anyone ever have this issue ? grounds and ground strap all intact, battery good. I am confused on what it could be, 1998 xj sport 4 wd. 4.0

How are you jumping the starter? If you bypass the solenoid on it, the Bendix gear will not work. The solenoid slides it forward and retracts it when you start it. Also there is a relay in the power distribution center that engages the solenoid. I realize it is new. Make sure that is working by swapping another into it. If that doesn't work, you may not be getting power from the ignition switch

cross solenoid with a screw driver, starter spins doesn't kick the bendix out to engage fly wheel, with key in on position, I have power to the key as all the dash light come on, key forward to start position and I get nothing, has new ignition switch, etc.. I'm baffled, all the grounds are good and the main ground strap is intact and grounded
