Engine transplant questions! Please help!
So I have a unique problem. I have:
I will put the main important stuff in bold:
Can I use the wiring harness from the '96 (AW4 & OBD2) if my plan is to end up using my OBD1 ECU and the AX-15??
If the answer is yes...my plan of action was to swap everything in the engine compartment from the 96 into my 93 body minus the transmission and transfer case, then swap the ECU, AX-15 and the transfer case from my daily driver at a later date
PLEASE HELP!!
Thank you!
- My lifted 1995 daily driver that I flopped on its side (w/ AX-15 & OBD1)
- A 1996 Cherokee I just bought that turned out to be completely rusted out (w/ AW4 & OBD2) [Which is why I will now be very thorough in my inspections]
- A 1993 Cherokee body that someone used for its engine and tranny and whatnot (No engine, tranny, wiring harness etc)
I will put the main important stuff in bold:
- I need to retain a daily driver.
- At the end of all of this I wish to have one Cherokee with an AX-15 that isn't all mashed up from being rolled.

Im confused on why or how you want to use a obd1 ecu with a 96 harness.
Just swap the 96 pcm in with the 96 harness and motor, everything that makes it obd2 should swap right into the 93 donor no problem. Just use everything from the 96.
As for the ax15, you can swap that in and not worry about any computer/harnesss issues because it doesnt require any electronics. I suppose the NSS might be different for you backup lights but I think you can just splice yours into the existing harness.
