Thank you so much for the useful information!!! Names Zac I love XJ'S saved up and bought 3 :) I got a little carried away but one had a bad exhaust leak so I change the manifold went to crank and started bouncing on the Red line immediately I've been tinkering, scratching and puffing for 3 days until I found this post on the forum. I couldn't wait to look so I hopped out of bed at 4 am and stuck a camera down there and sure enough I wasn't snug on the dowel. Thanks again guys and safe jeepn from alazkan jeep

With aftermarket headers/exhaust manifols, it is not uncommon that you need to file the intake manifold at teh following places outlined in the phot below. Be aware the manifold is sitting upside down and it's an earlier model. Still applies though.

This big bit of information saved me from scratching my head for another week. Put on my new Banks exhaust manifold and tried to start the jeep BUT, it would have revved to the red line if I had not shut it off. Tested TPS, IAC, read my shop manual till blue in the face, checked vacuum lines, could see no problems. Stumbled on this post and problem solved!

Thanks again!
