Default Engine question kinda

Ok lets start with this, my buddy hooked up battery wrong and messed something up, I was curious as when I got a new battery and tried to turn it, it smoked from the black box on the driver side wall that is in a case mounted. I have another but was wondering what that was. Any ideas help me out.

PCM= Powertrain Control Module. Its basically the equivalent to an ECU. Just swapping out the box won't necessarily fix anything. Your best bet is to find one from the same year with the same specs as yours(auto/manual, gauges/dummy lights)

Yea I actually picked up this one I have now from same year and all from the junkyard like 2 weeks before the pcm fried on it, all on a feeling I would need it, so I guess I can try swapping and see what happens. I am putting in a new water pump pulley as mine just jumped off like the shop did not tighten it all the way. So just getting everything together to fix the Jeep and then going to get this 95 I am looking at when I sell my Honda.

Go for it, just make sure your battery is hooked up right.

Yea lol well it is me this time and not my retarded buddy, he is not allowed by jeep, I know the difference between pos and neg. This is the buddy who somehow put his alternator on his jeep backwards arched it and fried it. So I will def try it cause this Jeep once fixed goes to my Dad and then I am getting that 95 I been looking at and waiting for lol. Got lots to do like the 4.5 lift I want, then of course I want to paint it black cause it looks sexy like that
