Engine light
Hi.
I've just bought a 2009 2.8 diesel jeep Cherokee limited with 36000 on the clock and the engine light just came on.
After looking on Google I pressed the odometer reset button and turned on the ignition but no code came up just 6.3 ?
Today I purchased a can maxiscan obd2 code reader and ran a check but no codes came up.
But light is still on.
Any ideas anyone ?
Also is the auto gear lever supposed to light up in the dark as being new to an auto box I have to turn on the interior light to make sure I sellect either p or r or d correctly in the dark.
Thanks Carl

What country are you in? The Jeep Cherokee (XJ) ceased production in the US IN 2001. I believe your question is referring to the Jeep KK (known as the Liberty over here in the US). You might want to ask this question in the Liberty or KK forums.
