my next problem

As you can see this poor jeep has been neglected. When I removed the head some of the build up fell on top of the lifters. The build up is also in the area above the lifters. i want to clean it up but its just going to fall in and possibly plug up the oil gallies . This is my biggest concern. Any ideas? The oil pan will be coming off eventually also.

This is the worst I've ever seen.
Pull the engine and dip & rebuild, everything.

5 quarts of Rotella T3 and 1 quart of Marvel Mystery Oil.

Wix filter. Run it and monitor sludge dissolving via a light through the oil filler cap.

There is a professional procedure that will de-sludge an engine but I don't know how much it will do for an engine in that condition.

Since it appears you have the head pulled go to a cheap store and grab a few cans of oven cleaner. Spray the holy hell out of it and wrap it in a trash bag and let it sit overnight. Next day pressure wash it all out really well at a car wash or at home (most car washes are at least warm water). Possibly oven clean again while pressure washing for more determined areas. Pull the valves and clean them off and lap them and re assemble. Trust me the oven cleaner is amazing stuff!

Wouldn't waste the money on a wix for this myself as it would need changed after 500 miles anyways.

Liking the oven cleaner idea. Might try that anthe rotella idea

Guntar13 Dec 9, 2015 04:41 PM

It will break through all the funk and buildup and take a head down to bare metal. Done it many times

Make sure you don't spray oven cleaner on aluminum. It will eat it up.

Did they ever change the oil in that thing?

Crash_Course Dec 12, 2015 05:48 PM

Dang, that's horrible. Why do bad owners happen to good jeeps?

Bump to the top. The motor is getting rebuilt over the next month or so. Looking for suggestions for a rebuild kit. I'm looking at the Clegg Engine complete rebuild kit. Just wondering if there are better kits and if there are kits i should avoid.
Thanks in advance.

If you got the cash i would think about a stroker kit,Or a better head and cam.
