Engine assistance

Greetings all!

Yesterday while going to get a simple carton of milk, I drove over a small bump and my engine died very abruptly. I have had little problems with it until now and I have no idea how to figure out the problem. There's a clicking sound coming from my fuse box when in the ON position (not running) but that's it. It wont even turn over, tries its darndest but try all it might it has no such luck. Went to a few car stores for their engine diagnostic code reader...thing, and it doesn't work (keeps telling me to check my connection and alas to no avail).

Any help would be appreciated! I wont be able to do anything tonight but will try anything in the morning.

Battery, cables, connections......or all of the above.

I've had a cps go out on a hill climb once, the exhaust manifold melted the wires together. Check your crank position sensor wires.
