Emissions...what next?
Hey all, my 95 sport is having trouble passing TX emissions. Last year it passed just fine, but now it’s failing on the high-speed HC and CO. The HC standard is 300 and it’s at 457 and the CO standard is 3.00 and it’s at 9.93. We tried Seafoam and nothing changed. Then I was told the cat was bad, so we replaced that and still nothing changed. It also had a tune up done just a couple months ago, but the inspection shop said it needs another tune up? I’m just not sure what to check out next so I was hoping for a point in the right direction. |
What are they tuning up, the jets on the ecu? I have a 95 that would fail CT emissions. I ended up running the fuel down to 1/16 of a tank throwing in 3 bottles of HEET isopropyl . Immediately after the test I would fill the tank and drive it every day to burn of the alcohol. I would also remove the intake filter. The cat on it is hollowed out so its "catless" and still passes with 280k. Consider that I don't care about this jeep so continue at your own risk.

I didn't think Texas had emissions testing, is it just in certain areas?

Yes, it’s just for the most populous counties. |
