Electronics... Here's one

So on the weekend I went to pick n pull and picked up two headlights as mine were pretty bad. The two I got looked brand new.
So I swapped em out no problem, but turns out on one of them only the highbeam worked. No problem, I switch it out.
But now the little indicator on the dash that tells you the highbeams are on (can't remember if it lights up for just headlights too) will not come on... And it used to.
Both headlights work, highbeams work, so WHY must it do this to me?
Any ideas guys?

Just coincidence, the high beam indicator light burned out. There's nothing you can do at the headlights (short of blowing a fuse - and you didn't do that because the headlights work) to cause the high-beam indicator to stop working.

I guess that is a possibility. See I would have thought the computer was trying to tell me something was still off with the headlights.
So do I have to pull the dash apart to change this bulb?
I guess it couldn't hurt to check that first.
But I swear. With this now, the widows, power seats, and about three other electrical irritations, I start to wonder if they give out electrical engineering degrees to chimpanzees. And why Chrysler hires said chimps..

yeah you have to pull the cluster 4 screws in the dash bezel then gently pry that off and 6 0r 8 screws in the cluster itself. i f i remember right you have to pull off the rear wiper switch mount and mybe the one next to the cigarette lighter. then two connecters on back of the cluster. pretty easy.

Yeah that doesn't sound so bad. Any idea what kind of lightbulb it takes?

Probably the same "peanut"type as the rest. The ones without a socket, just the glass end with wires.

Lucas, who designed the electrical systems in Jags is known as "the Prince of Darkness" Maybe his brother Bongo did the Jeeps!

Good. I was hoping it's the same as say the one under the shift bezel. I have spares of those.
Welp, when I've got some time I'll check it out. Hopefully I'm not back here next week asking the same question.
