Default Electrical Question

Just bought a 94 Grand Cherokee Limited. I replaced the battery and all the cables and ground connections, and now when I rev it up when the idle drops down sometimes it will stall out. It will start right backup though. The lights also dim when it drops to a low idle or I roll up windows. It didn't have the idling problem before I changed out all the battery stuff. I will check plugs tomorrow to make sure it's not just killin itself. also gettin rear lamp failure readout. Any suggestions?

Sounds like a bad ground to me... make sure youre grounded well to the factory location and make sure that where you bolted it down is CLEAN.

when it stalls is it like the key is turned off
or more like the idle just starts to get slower until it dies

All the lights and everything are still on, so not like the key is off. I have replaced and cleaned all the ground connections well. I am going to check the alternator today. It dies when the idle gets down below around 450 rpm, but not every time.

check the IAC its on the throttle body
it controls your idle un plugit and plug back in couldbe as simple as the conection is bad

The rear lamp failure comes on when any rear bulb fails. Check license plate light, high-mount brake light, and reverse lights along with tail, brake, and turn lights. On my '97 ZJ it was the license plate light that caused failure light to come on.

Hey Texas, I had this issue once after i swapped the battery. The negative post was loose and when i was idling it was losing power. Did you try a new battery? just have them swap it

Haven't tried a new battery yet, but I switched from top post to side terminal because I cut the wires back a little because they were so corroded. I dont think that the side terminal could be loose, and they are cranked down tight but I will check anyways.
