Default Electrical Help on an 88 cherokee needed

Hi,
I am 16 years old and my dad and I are trying to fix electrical glitches made by the previous owner on a 88 Jeep cherokee. At present we are trying to fix the electric windows and locks, but we cannot find the hot wire. Can anybody help us?

Welcome to the forum. Do you have a keyless entry or no?

My dad said that we do not have keyless entry and that we have a wiring dyagram for it and it says that there is a red wire that is supposed to be hot but we cannot find one that is with the key on.

I to have recently purchased an 89 XJ and have been working on the windows and door locks, there is a hot wire on the drivers door that is for the door locks only I believe it is the only one that is red. And the hot one for the windows is orange when the key is in run position. Have you tried checking the relay or ignition switch?

my hot for the windows was purple if I recall correctly. I just had to clean connectors and they worked again... granted that everything was in need of a good clean-up to actually go up or down.....
Hope that helps
