Electrical drama
First off I own a 2001 Jeep cherokee limited 4wd silver. Now I've been online looking and looking and I've found similar problems but none that can really relate to my issue. Ok I bought the jeep and noticed the front passenger window wouldn' roll down, no biggie, simple fix right? anyway the A/C randomly stopped working one day and to my amazement the front passenger window would roll down. One problem fixed another problem created. Well now my A/C will work sometimes and my windows will roll up and down sometimes. Not on their own ofcourse, I have to manual controll them. So I go to start my car the other day and "click". I thought well how did my batter die? so I jiggled the connections and I tried to start my car and it turned over. Wouldn't start completely but atleast I had juice. Well after trying to start it for a minute It started and ran all kinds of messed up. Idle was terrible as if I had 4 cylinders or something. So I disconnected the batter and opened my fuse box and looked around and went online to the forums listening to ppl talk about throttle controlers and positioning units and I went to my jeep and reconnected the battery and attempted to start my car. IT STARTED! was normal, windows rolled up and down and my A/C was working. I had 14v on the dash showing and that is normal for my car. Well I turned on my headlights and the volts went down to 9 and was slowly going back up to 14, the car started to almost die and my belt was squeaking really bad. So ofcourse I turned my headlights off and my A/C and it drove all day and all night no problems. The a/c didnt wanna work anymore and now my windows wont roll down again but my headlight work lol. Does anyone have any sort of feedback or suggestions?

Sounds like the alternator is either not producing adequate current or the alternator is have trouble getting the current to the battery. I would guess the latter. You need to check/clean/tighten your grounds as this could be the source of randomly working/not working components as well. I think your issues are related but not completely.
Thanks for the feedback. I'll clean the grounds and attempt to make good of this mess. As far as my A/C, where the clutch is it remains magnetic but the clutch doesnt wann turn, almost as if the magnetism isnt strong enough meaning there just isnt enought power going to it. I dunno maybe I should just take my alternator off and have autozone test it.
Hi I had same problem - the black wire in the wire sharf between the drivers door and the car is worn (general wear from opening and closing the door apparently) my aircon, windows and mirrors were all working intermittently - To fix open the door, pull back the plastic sharf cover from the door side to expose the wires. you will probably find the thickest wire which is black has snapped. easy to solder back together. I could believe it was so easy to fix. Jeep had quoted me a lot of money to locate and fix the problem, I am so grateful to this forum for giving me the answer. I just went to spittle workshop and stood over them and told them what to do to fix it.
