Electric Fan switch - radiator probe?

Has anyone had any trouble with these? I just installed a new 3 core radiator in my '96 and swapped in an electric fan ( mech fan clutch hit the new radiator..had to get it repaired)

I bought a permacool adjustable wiring kit to go with the permacool fan, wired it in and the switch will not activate! No matter what temp i set it on.

i bought another wiring kit from the auto parts house but cant get that probe to work either. Any ideas? The temp gauge can climb wayy up and still nothing. Id like to try a thread in switch but where to put it?

Yes, i have the AC excite wire hooked up so it comes on when the AC is on but not on its own

I have not heard good things about these probes. I couldn't get mine to work either. I have also heard from other members of forums that they take a dive after a while. I got a sensor from Painless Wiring. It is the GM style and I had to drill and tap a hole for it. It takes a standard 12 mm. It goes on at 200* and off at 190*. It works flawlessly. I wired it to the relay for the fans.

do you have the probe next to the top hose
if you have it in the wrong spot it may not get hot enough even if if the engine is over heating

Well the permacool directions said put it almost right in the middle. But i did try to put it right next to the top hose and it still didn't trip. i think i'm going to use an inline 180* switch from summit.

On the highway, the jeep stays at 180 and doesnt move but in town/stop and go it heats up
