electric cooling fan

I've replaced everything that has to do with cooling and I mean everything. The electric cooling fan will only come on when I unplug the temperature gauge from the sensor, which I also replaced, and shuts off immediately when I plug it back in, hot or cold. any suggestions?

Temperature gauge and fan shouldn't share the same sensor.

They share the same sensor starting in '97. Sensor in t-stat housing triggers fan at 218F. Unplugging the sensor is the fail-safe default.
