On another post, I got info on getting the build sheet, so thanks to those who helped. At the bottom of the email came this messege: It appears your vehicle has not been serviced for the following recall notice:

E22 REPROGRAM PCM AND INSPECT CATALYTIC CONVERTER

The notice says to print and take with me to dealer and should be at no charge to me.

Is this a really old notice? I don't want to get there and have them tell me the statue of limitations has expired, or something like that. Has any other 96 owner got info?

 

well for one thing is the exhaust still orginal for the xj if not they will not do a recall on it?

 

I got the same message on my build sheet last week. But I already did a complete exhaust 2 weeks prior with a new cat. I contacted the local Jeep dealer and they said had I not done a new exhaust, they would have replaced the cat under that recall notice. Oh well. And I too have a 96 sport.

 

Same dam thing happened to me.Redid cat because it was rattling.Then I sent for a build sheet weeks later and learn of the e-22 recall.Crap

 

As far as I can tell, it looks original. The muffler has a few small rust through areas less then 1/4 inch diameter and I can't see any real sloppy welds, etc. I guess I'll have them check tomorrow.
