Default Drum backing plate

I need to replace a drum brake backing plate on a Chrysler 8.25 axle. Does the axle shaft have to be removed to replace this part? TIA.

yep, because hub needs to come off. Takes a 36 mm socket to remove axle nut.

That's on the front axle. C 8.25 uses a C-clip axle.
