So I am making a trip to jacksonville FL in a few days from chicago. I am just wondering if there is anything I should have looked at before I leave. I have new tires and all that good stuff. So I just need to know it you guys have any ideas as far as what is a good thing to have checked out!!

Change oil and filter.
Inspect and either change or top off all fluids.
Inspect belts and hoses. Replace if needed.
Inspect wiper blades. Replace if needed.
Make sure tires are properly inflated.
Be prepared for bad weather.
Fill gas tank.
Charge cell phone.
Fill thermos with coffee.

Ya if you go through the corner of Paducah, KY into IL SLOW DOWN. ESP when you get to where there is construction going on. I counted 8 cops in just that area when I moved from GA to Kansas.

Change fluid in diffs and transfer case if they havent been done in a while.
Check all your hoses and tires VERY well.
Buy one of those plastic "milk crates" at wally world. Put in it a couple of extra gallons of antifreeze,ATF , motor oil,rags, a flashlight and put in the cargo area. Easy to take in and out when not needed and its all kept together.
Replace wipers, rainX the windows and mirrors, replace belt and keep old belt wire tied under hood for a spare.

If you go I95 to I 26, I 40 is closed west of Asheville due to landslide 3 or 4 months ago. Well you are driving a Jeep. Pull the front driveshaft and save 3 or 4 MPG.
