Default Driveshaft U-Joints...where to put grease fitting?

I am about to rebuild both of my driveshafts with Spicer u-joints, but I am confused as to how decide where the grease fitting is supposed to go. Is it obvious what position the u-joint will need to be in for it to work properly and not knock off the fitting?

Also, should I "bleed" the u-joints with new grease before installation in order to remove the stuff that comes from the factory?

Thanks!

Just curious...why do you want U-Joints with grease fittings?

I just replaced my U-Joints (front axles & rear DS) and put the non-greaseable Spicers in. My thoughts are: I have a hard enough time remembering to grease my front drive shaft slip joint, let alone trying to remember to grease the U-Joints. Besides, this DD XJ will go another 134,000 miles before it needs another set of joints so I'm happy.

I find climbing under my truck and greasing fittings a distasteful activity. I'd rather drink beer.

I got greaseable U-joints simply because I love climbing under my Jeep and tightening things up/greasing things. I keep a schedule of when everything needs to be taken care of, and 5 U-joints won't take but an extra 5 minutes.

There should only be one way for the grease fittings to go in...I don't see any reason for u to "bleed" out the new grease that is already in them...unless u think your grease is better than the factory grease

face the zerk on the rear drive shaft u-joint towards the t-case and the front joint on the rear drive shaft towards the rear axle. (so face them in).
this way you can get to them with a grease gun.

I know how to get the zerk into the u-joint haha, this is a matter of how to place the u-joints in the driveshafts. Thanks for the point though!

Ok, so...the side of the u-joint that has the bulge for the zerk...on the rear axle end of the rear drive shaft, have on the t-case side? And on the t-case end of the shaft, have it face the axle? I think that's right....

What about the 3 joints on the front DS though?
