Driver side window grinding

Got electric windows, and the driver's side grinds or clicks when it gets to the top or bottom of it's movement. The window works fine, it just won't stop itself when it reaches the top or bottom. What it sounds like to me is worn out gears or something. Before I pull the door apart for nothing, anyone run into this before?

sounds like the window regulator might be on its way out. the cherokees use a (in my opinion) kind of dumb design. there is a long threaded rod that spins out of the motor and there is a plastic piece that sits in the window track and the threads will strip out over time. there is a company that makes a fix for this and i bought one but realized then my 2 door uses two tracks so it wouldnt work plus it was my whole regulator that broke.

if this is indeed your problem, i will sell it to you for cheap. btw, youll know if thats the problem when the window wont go up haha.

The window regulator does not have any gears. Make it easy on yourself and order one now as it will soon give up the ghost. I replaced one on my 99' WJ last Sunday, took an hour and a half. Go on eBay to auto parts direct to you or something like that. $56.00 including shipping, I think!

Here is a link that is actually for fixing a broken window regulator but it has a section on fixing the grinding noise as well. http://www.steigerperformance.com/products/sp12001.html

I have the same problem. I got a new motor and replaced it but it didn't fix the problem. It is definitely the regulator.
