Default Driver side tail light issue 1999 Jeep Cherokee XJ Sport 5 speed manual

1999 Jeep Cherokee XJ Sport manual 4dr 4x4
Driver side tail light issue not working changed fuses, bulb, wiring harness .
brake, signal and backup parking lights all work fine!
multimeter shows no power to black taillight socket/ top bulb .
Do I change the socket or is it a wiring issue?
Any insight would be appreciated.

If you have power to the wire then you need to change the socket. I would wager you probably don't have power and need to trace that wire back a ways - unfortunately.

Note from DJ
Black is normally a ground wire; Brown wire is Left Brake; White with Tan tracer is Tail Light I think.

THANK YOU! I was trying to figure out which one was brake and which one was tail light since it is a dual bulb. So far traced it back to the connector socket for the tail light harness cleaning the contacts.
