driveline issue???

got a 98 Xj with 130,000 miles. when im on the highway doing 60-70mph i hear and feel a clunk in the rear when i press on the gas pedal. i let off the pedal to cruise for a sec and repress the pedal thats when i feel and hear the clucnk. i m pretty sure its coming from the rear. need some advise and help on what this could be because its starting to bug the hell out of me!! thanks guys....

In my opinion, It could be a bad U joint , Bad pinion bearing or possibly axle wrap from worn out leaf springs. I had a 4 door chevy tahoe that did the same thing to me and it turned out to be axle wrap.

How do your leaf springs look?

Also on my XJ the exhuast sometimes hits the tranny crossmember since I have a broken hanger which could be your case also?

axle wrap? well i do know my leaf springs couldnt be any more straight. and my first thoughts were that it could of been a bad u-joint. bad pinion bearing idk. if it were a bad bearing, how tough are they to change?
