Default The dreaded wobble

Ok, here I go probably asking the same question as everyone else. I have a 93 xj with stock wheels and normal size tires. I believe I have literally replaced everything that can cause the wobble.

track bar
shocks
hubs
ball joints
axle u-joints
all tie rods
steering stabilizer shock
steering gear box
power steering pump
brakes
upper and lower control arm bushings
sway bar rubbers
tires

Any suggestions? I am beginning to think it is a weak unibody.

Have the alignment specs set by a competent shop.

Are you sure the wheels/tires are balanced properly? I had a wobble in an F150 at 50 mph and it was caused by out of balance wheels/tires.

+1 on double checking and ensuring the wheel/tire balance.

I have had alignment(s) done of course. It drives great, handles great, goes down the road straight.

It's just those dang hard bumps at higher speeds that will get me.

Have the tires broken down off the rims and make sure you don't have fix a flat or slime rolling around inside.

New tires. No fix a flat, guaranteed.

Please, keep the ideas coming.

I thought about just ordering new Cragar soft 8s in white. But I really don't think it is a rim issue.

Have you rotated tires front to rear?

Have the alignment checked by a shop and have them print the spec. If all the steering is tight and the wheels and tires are good, the only thing that will cause wobble is too little caster. Make sure it is within .5 of each side and its on the higher end of the positive scale. The bigger the tires the higher it needs to be, but if you are running stock I would still put it at 7.5 to 8.

Post #10 elaborated on what I meant by this post.

The original poster did not earlier say he had had the alignment done after replacing all the parts he listed.

Your rims might be warped, a buddy of mine had warped rims on his truck and it made it ride really rough over 50mph

I did have an alignment done by Tire Discounters after replacing the parts. I have the OEM control arms and bushings so I don't know how I would adjust the caster with those.

I might have it sold. If this guy backs out I will try the rims next.

Keep him on smooth city streets below 45 MPH for the test drive.

I drive 110 miles a day 5 days a week. As long as I keep it below 65 it's fine. I usually only have the problem once every few weeks when a new, nasty pothole shows up and I am going 70+ mph.
