Default Door swap ability

I have a 2000 4 door Classic. The bottom of the front driver's side door is badly rotted.
the options are
mig/glue a replacement lower skin or
a junkyard door...if I could find one.
Questions:
1. What model years would be a direct swap(size, hinge location, latch location)? Only 97 my+ or earlier ones also?

2) my door has electric lock and window. Are the doors with manual stuff the same metal structure?

Thanks
PS. Wild ****ed guesses don't count...

While the later windows & mirrors can be fitted to the earlier doors, the actual carcass is different (subtly so - apart from the side impact beams). Best stick to '97-up & life will be much easier if you can find one with working leccy locks & windows. Certainly the route I'd take as against re-skinning the old door - especially as modern replacement panels don't have a good reputation for fit or quality.

Thanks for the reply, that's the information I needed. I'd much rather replace the door, problem is going to be finding one that's not rotted out.
Thanks again

You'll definitely want to go with '97 and up door skins so all your components, handles, and latches match up, but I don't think it matters whether or not you get a door from a Jeep that had power windows or not. You'll be transferring over all of the old components to your new door anyway.

Most '97'-'01 XJ's had power windows and door locks, so you're more likely to find one of those than "Roll-Up" windows and manual door locks.
