I have a 98 Cherokee sport.

The dome light and the other lights in the cabin are always on. Even if all doors are closed.

Any suggestions how to detect the problem?

Check the pressure switches on your doors, i had the same problem. Solved it with a self adhesive rubber pad.

Is there a switch to turn on the dome light (the central one) and the lights at the passengers' feet?

I already checked the switches on the doors and they seem fine.
Is there a temporizing relays that might be stuck somewhere?

the pull *** for the headlights can twist to dim your dash lights and also turn on your interior lights

Good luck. I've had the same prob with my 98 for a year now. I've done everything to try and fix it. Finally got p'd off and took all the bulbs out..

+1 head light **** turn it clockwise. If that fails to work check pressure switch on passenger doors, if there is no annoying buzzer its gotta be a passenger door. Last but not least open the hatch and press the dome light to check on/off...

could of been worse you could of woke up with a dead battry in the moring at least you noticed it was on lol
