Hey all I have a 1991 Jeep Cherokee Sport with a strange electrical issue. Whenever the HVAC mode is selected to anything other than "off" the entry illumination relay will turn on which results in the dome light being on as well. I did some diagnosing and found the coil side of the entry illumination relay is finding a path to ground through the HVAC mode selector switch. Unplugging the hvac mode connector gets rid of the ground for the relay (no short). I don't want to condemn the hvac module as it appears to be doing what it's supposed to do. I'm using a wiring diagram through pro demand and all the wiring seems to be accurate except my relay wires don't match up to where they should be according to the diagram. I have no idea how that could have happened though. I was wondering if someone could take a picture of the bottom side of their relay for me to see if the wires are in different spots than mine? It's behind the plastic knee bolster on the drivers side, there's a group of three relays and the one with the orange connector is the entry illumination relay.
