Default Dome Light Circuit Board

I have a 2000 Cherokee Sport with the Base Trim Over head dome light. This is not the full overhead console, but the small rectangular unit with the one large light in the mifddle and the two push on/off lense on either side. I understand how the dome light circuit works, but I am interested in the small circuit board housed in the dome light.

I am hoping there is an accessory wire up there some place so that my CB radio mounted ot my headliner doesn't stay on all the time and shuts off with the ignition key. I just got down putting the interior trim back in and really don't want to remove all the trim again just to string an accessory lead.

Thanks for your help.

The printed circuit board is the Remote Keyless Entry Module.

Some(?) XJ's were prewired for the overhead console which has the compass and outside air temp readout. If it is prewired, there should be a Black 12 pin connector hanging around up there. If so, you can tap into it. If not, you'll have to run a new wire(s).

Take a look and see if that connector is up there.

If that is the case, than mine does appear to be wired for a compass and Temp control. But my issue is still that I need a key on/off for an accessory, otherwise my cb will be running all the time.

On a side note, if the 12-pin plug is prewired, does anyone have a diagram for that plug in case I opt to upgrade to a compass/temp control.

My Photobucket has gone insane for the moment. When I get it up and running I'll post the data.

My pleasure.

Where are you located in SE Mich?

Note in that diagram that fuse F9 in the JB is a 10 Amp fuse and is powered when the key is in the RUN position only. It also powers the Headlamp Delay Module and the Instrument Cluster via. Splice S225. Hope your CB radio doesn't overload that fuse.

In Utica, just north of Steriling Heights. I used to know a ton of people in your neck of the woods. I still get down that way for business, but not as often as I did a few years back.

Okay, so I hate to revive an old post, but things didn't line up quite the way I hoped. So my small "Sport" overhead console (No compass, No Thermometer) has a 12 prong plug, but it doesn't align with the above diagram. My wires are described below in parenthesis.

WIRE01 Ground (YELLOW)
WIRE02 Fused B+ (PINK)
WIRE03 Open - Not Used (BLACK)
WIRE04 Ambient Temp Sensor (OPEN)
WIRE05 CCD BUS+ (BLUE)
WIRE06 Fuse Ign Switch Output (PURPLE)
WIRE07 Courtesy Lamps Driver (OPEN)
WIRE08 Open - Not Used (OPEN)
WIRE09 Open - Not Used (BLACK)
WIRE10 Sensor Ground (BLACK w/RED TRACER)
WIRE11 CCD BUS- (LT BLUE w/RED TRACER)
WIRE12 Ground (WHITE w/BLACK TRACER)

So I am doing two projects. I am hooking a CB up and have pulled a Positive Battery from the overhead lamps and would like to hook it up to the IGNITION circuit so it goes on and off with the key. I am also taking a junkyard compass/termp gage from a Saturn ION which also requires a Switched Ignition Circuit. I probe'd all of the above wires and none of them appear to be a switched ignition. I have already ran thermister circuit, but according to the above, there should be one embedded in the OEM harness (Wire 4 and 10)without having to run a another set of wires. If I could tap into the OEM thermister circuit, that would save me having to run a new ignition circuit.

I don't understand everything I know about overhead consoles and overhead mini lamps (modules).

Here's another set of prints for the 2000 overhead console and the pinout of the overhead module.

The wire pins/colors you posted look like the ones in the overhead module pinout - sorta.

See if you can make heads or tails out of this mess.

Thanks again, that looks like nearly an exact match and the pin out more closely matches what I was seeing when I was probing the wires. Unfortunately it looks like there is not a pre-wired temp sensor circuit or an accessory output wire, so I guess I will need to lead my own. Oh well. Thanks again for the quick response.
