Thats not true plain and simple. However there are a couple chips that will get you a couple ponys. Your not going to see a 50hp increase unless you build a stroker or get some kind of forced induction.

i have not run one on a cherokee/grand cherokee but on a gas powered dodge ram I had the chip did nothing to improve power or the like.

Now on my 03 Dodge ram with a cummins diesel a chip/dowloader/plug and play turns your vehicle into a powerful beast.

thats been my experience.

The reason the chip was better in the diesel, is because it has a turbo... Boost and fuel pressure turned up = easy HP...

According to the link this chip cover 3 different control systems(ECU's), I think not.

Yep. Most chips do ZERO on naturally aspirated stock engines.

The right chip/tune on a turbo can add a ton though.

their not worth the money you'd be better off buying motor mounts and an after market header like an apn. You'll notice a gain from the header

Holy cow, does it mow the yard and paint the house too? I love the "less and fewer oil changes".

Hahaha all good posts guys-thanks. I guess ll keep my out for one specifically for jeeps MPGs--i dont care about HP i just need more MPGs!!

So far ive done: New spark plugs, oil/filter change, cleaned air filter/ nitrous in tires (30in tires dont help) fuel cleaner-LS1 4 hole spray (from a camaro) injectors do not help!!--im getting an 01 intake soon, CAI intake, and throttle body spacer
Any more suggestions?

you can buy an adjustable MAP sensor or make your own for very little. you can adjust it for power or mpg or back to stock. it only works when the throtle body is opened 80% or more though
if you do the adj MAP sensor, you cant use a chip

I run 89 fuel and it makes a big difference, 3 mpgs on the highway so obviously the savings in gas mileage offsets the extra cost of the gasoline. Also, you might want to rethink the LS1 injectors. I went with EV6 Style Neon Injectors from fuelinjectorconnection.com, the whole set was only $130. They are supposed to be better for mileage, at least that's what a guy here on CF told me, he saw a 5 mpg increase on the highway. You might want to swap all your fluids in axle, tcase, and tranny with synthetics. There is also a write up on here about relocating the air temp sensor from the intake manifold to the air box, its in the write up section and the guy claims a 1 mpg gain. Good Luck

Oh yeah, and drive slow, that's the biggest one!
