Do all Wagoneers have a Dana 44?
Did all Xj wagoneers come with a Dana 44 rear end? Seems like like I read that somewhere.

Hi
VERY old post, but I wonder if your 87 waggys have THIS D44 at the back.
it looks like a SJ differential.
why do I care ? Because I want to change my wheel bearings and want to be sure of what to order.

Good to know It is a dana 44 (maybe with an aftermarket cover).
I know my brake drums ate 10".
If I understand well I probably had a towing package (not present anymore.)
So my ultimate question is what wheel bearing should I buy for the rear.
I can not dismantle the part and go to a local store as there are none with jeep parts.
So I need to order the right, then ask a garage to install them.
On RBS Handel, where I buy parts in Germany, they seem to advise this part, but it is written Dana 35 on the diagram... Will it fit ?

Looks like a stock cover to me.
Even has the factory tag.

So I can order this with confidence ? REF 8124052 Crown Pinion Outer Bearing Kit
In your opinion, Should I also buy the INNER BEARING KIT and change it
[This would be a good idea if changing the wheel bearings involves accessing easily to the inner bearings).
thanks for your feedback

That's a stock cover.
The part number you referenced is for a pinion bearing. That's not something you just change without ripping the whole differential apart. There is also a lot of set up to do afterwards.
The wheel bearings should be: TIMKEN SET 10
"Inner wheel bearings" would be the carrier bearings. I wouldn't just change those out unless (again) rebuilding the whole differential.
