Ive been reading as much as I can and am getting mixed answers. Can i adjust the the teeth of the distributor and retard/advance timing?

OK,
Lets go at it this way. If I where to pull my distributor out slightly, and turn it 2 or three teeth, would that advance/retard timing?

Why are you messing with the distributor?

was it pulled and set wrong?

no that would mak the xj run like ****

we pulled it when we rebuilt the engine.
We did bust the Knock Sensor, and Im replacing that today, but I just wanted to have a back up plan if that does not take care of the slight timing issue.

It starts up fine, and runs, but the timing seems tobe just slightly out.

Yes, its back in and set to #1, but seems slightly off. Can I advance/retard by resetting on a different tooth?
