distributor issue

Happy Thanksgiving all my fellow XJ er's. I am having a problem replacing the "stator" in my distributor. there is a metal piece above the staor. I can't see how to remove that to get to the stator itself. Can anyone give me some help with this? Thanks

The distributor comes out of the engine bay without tapping the pin out first, right? I mean I don't have to tap that pin out while the distributor is sitting in the engine bay, correct?

No you can take it out of the engine bay, just unplug all the wires and mark where the dizzy should be so your timing will be correct upon installation.

There is a bolt holding the whole assmbly in place, right? Its under the right side of the distributor when looking from pass side.

Yes. If you've never pulled a dizzy before I recommend you get a manual or search for the procedure
