distributor cap and rotor
alright so i decided to change my cap and rotor this weekend and now the jeep cranks and does this stutter thing and cranks some more and stutters
ive checked everything its all hooked up right so i think ive went through it like 5 times it seems right but it wont start
i even put the old cap an rotor on and same thing it wont start

yea, i would double check and make sure you have the right spark plug wire going to the correct connector on the distributor cap.
i just replaced mine...took about 45 mins b/c I replaced 1 spark plug at a time, then changed each wire one at a time, then finally replaced the cap and rotor...plus its freezing outside

the diag in the haynes manual is wrong going by the dist cap screws the one posted above is correct going by the screws

i feel like and idiot i went by the haynes manual and yea the screws are on wrong in the diagram
my jeep starts up no problems nice and quick and wow did i need to replace the cap and rotor

I'm replacing my wires, plugs, cap and distributor today. So I should be able to just replace it and follow this diagram? I've never changed one before and lots of the write ups I've read were as if you were putting one on with out taking the old one off turning the engine to TDC and a whole bunch of confusing stuff

yes sir, you can follow the diagram. but the easiest way would be to change each plug and wire one at a time, then install the new cap by looking at the old one if that makes sense. it'll take longer but imo its worth it to make sure you get it right the first time. and the wires are probably going to be different lengths so make sure you put the right ones on
