Distributor bushing modification

I’ve searched a few sites, (can’t remember if it was here) and cannot find an old thread.
There once was a post on a distributor mod to get more oil to the bushing.
Anyone have a link?
Reason being, I’m replacing a new distributor with 12,000 miles on it I just installed at 64K miles.
Started up in the morning yesterday and loud chirping until warm. Today I pulled the cap, added a few drops of gun oil and chirp gone. Any ideas what is causing the bushing to crap out so quickly?

99 xj with only 78K on odometer.

I've heard of that on the later XJs.
Are their spirals in the shaft or bushing to bring oil up?

Few years ago I had a new (aftermarket rebuilt) distributor bearing seize up on a new (Mopar rebuilt) 4.0L engine.

It destroyed the camshaft disributor/oil pump gear.
Not much fun fixing up the mess!

Was it a Cardone rebuild? If the bearing was smooth at the time they may have just cleaned it up and rebox it. You may have gotten one of those. I tore the old one down from my 97 and the shaft was smooth. No spiral.

Sorry, it was many years ago and I don't remember the brand or which store I got it from.

I still have the engine and son and I are in process on installing it into 1989 Cherokee.

It was replaced with a new spectra distributor 12,000 miles ago. Just got the warranty replacement last night. Will try to eek out some time today to install. Just found it kinda odd it crapped out so soon. Should have gotten one from Napa.
