Disconnected battery. Keeps shutting off. Low rpm
Been having an annoying issue lately. Every time I disconnect the battery and I hook it back up the jeep struggles to stay on. I literally have to keep my foot on the gas. Sometimes I smell gas fumes also. If I take the foot off the rpm goes down to 300 or so. Sometimes it even turnes off. Anyone experience this before? It's a 2001 jeep Cherokee sport 155k on original engine. The jeep goes bak to normal rpms after 2-3 days of driving around. If I disconnect the battery it happens all over again.

Just currious, why are you having to disconnect the battery so often?
I would clean all of your grounding points. Not just at the battery. Just one bad ground can cause a lot of strange problems. Also, have your battery load tested.

I replaced it twice about two months ago. The first came one bad. I'll see what I can do when I get home from work.

Computer does not monitor the position of the IAC (no circuit for it), it just blindly gives adjustments, more air less air more air, relative to current position. Having to hold the pedal down generally means its not being aggressive enough. There is a procedure for setting baseline position with new ones but I don't have it handy at the moment. Generally just hold the pedal down a few times, it will figure out eventually
