Thumbs down Differential pinion yoke

My rear pinion yoke broke the other day. I was wondering just for the short time so I can still drive back and forth to work can I remove the front drive shaft and front yoke and use it in the back until I have time to wait for the part and replace rear. 1998 Xj

Pull the rear driveshaft, leave the front as-is, and drive it in 4WD which will now effectively be front wheel drive until you get the rear pinion fixed.

Do NOT remove the front yoke and drive the vehicle! The yoke is what keeps the pinion in place and seals the case!

Remove the rear driveshaft and use 4wd until you can get a yoke.

Make sure you get the right yoke for your axle. One size does not fit all. Then make sure you install it correctly so as not to disturb the pinion preload.
