I got 280,000 miles on the ticker om my 90' XJ and was wondering if I would be better off swapin in a newer used enging with less miles as oposed to pullin my engine and rebuilding it.?????

280,, thats high,, ive heard of them going to 300k miles,, but IDK about rebuilding one with so many miles,, might be cheaper, to get a nice used one..

it depends on if you are doing the work. if you are then it might be cheaper to do it rebuild then buy and take a chance on having somthing go wrong with it. at least if you build it you know what you have.

I would be doing almost all the work. so it would be cheep, but in the same respect i have seen 4.0 motors with 115,000 miles go for 200 bucks and it would be less hassle to just swap a motor.

I wanted to just get some opinions on the matter.

Remember that it is a Renix and the rebuilt engines can't be a H.O.without some parts swapping to keep it basically a Renix. If you keep that in mind then you will be fine. I know what you are going through as I put a new engine in mine a couple years back and think I made the right choice.
