Default Difference in CPS part numbers

I phoned the local Jeep dealer and ordered a new CPS for my XJ and the parts guy looked up part number 56026882. I double checked this online as a CPS for a 93 XJ with an auto trans.

I pulled the old CPS out today, I think it was an original sensor and it was marked 56026921 0193, I believe the 0193 is the date of manufacturer. Jan 1993 would make sense for my 1993 XJ?

The Jeep fired up and there seems to be no issues. Is there a difference between these two part numbers?

6921 is correct for your 4.0.

6882 is for a 2.5 engine.

Strange, I just got off the phone with the parts department. According to my VIN, he sees the 1993 XJ 4.0L Auto requiring the 6882 part number.

He says the 6921 is not correct for a 1993 but can't see any info on what engine it was for.

I've seen a few sites online that list a replacement CPS that covers both OEM part numbers. Weird?

The 93 parts catalog is dicked up. I had to dig these part numbers out of the 94 catalog. They are for the early production 94's so they may apply to the late production 93.

Do what you think is best mate.
