Question Diff fluid level

i heard u r supose to put it in until it spills out of the diff hole. and i heard u r suppose to stick your pinky in there and u shold feel it at the vry tip of your pinky so how much?

Question

so after i replaced my 4wd shifter fork and diaphram i was hearing weird clunking sounds......like pop to jerk ten pop aai in 4 high. my friend told me to put it in and i should only be able to feel it at the tip of my pinky......so i did that and the i kept hearing poplunk jerk sounds when i drivearound...... thank god i looked it up but u r suppose to fill it til it dips out. just filled it till it dripped out then put it in 4 high and goooood byclunking

Sorry I didn't catch you earlier, fill it till it comes out. You use your pinky to determine whether or not it's full. Don't want it to go below pinky or damage may occur. Typically if you put your punky in and it averages about halfway up, you should be ok. Only know this cuz I worked at jiffy lube lol.

I just had my diffs biult and the guy that biult said that if you can touch the oil with your pinky your good. ( about 1/2 inch below the hole. )

yea it's relative. 1/2" below hole is the minimum. At the bottom of the hole is obviously maximum
