Default Did Jeep use any factory fuse taps?

98 Xj 4.0' AW4.
My interior fuse panel has 2 fuse taps. There is one on fuse 15, and one on fuse 22. They look to be about 22 gauge wire, one orange, and one red.. The only electrical mods that I know of are an aftermarket head unit, and a Putco headlight harness. Neither of these use a fuse tap. I haven't pulled anything apart to trace these wires.

Did Jeep use any fuse taps when building these beasts?

Note from DJ
Unplug each connector one at a time from Fuse Tap and see what doesn’t work.

*sigh*

Those things have a strong tendency to bend the fuse socket contacts so they never work properly again. It's a lazy man's way to get power, and should be avoided.

I also have a 10 amp fuse in space 8, which should be a spare. I'm going to pull the kick panel tomorrow and trace those tapped wires.

I tried that with the one from slot 22. The rear wiper was the only thing that wasn't working. I will do more noggin pokin tomorrow.

*heavy sigh*

I have a strong distaste for funky wiring. I've seen it cause too many issues. Fortunately, this is the only compromised wiring that I've seen on this one. I will determine what those wires are feeding, and eliminate them or wire them properly to the fuse block.

I have a '00 and that's where my factory sunroof was wired in. I know it seems like a crappy job, but if you trace it back you could even find the duct tape they used to keep all the wiring together above the headliner for the sunroof models. Hope it helps.

Bingo! Mine has a sunroof as well. It works intermittently, and whether it is working seems to be related to ambient temperature. It works reliably at temperatures between approximately 45*-90*F. Outside of these temps, power to the control is iffy. If the red light on the control panel is lit, I know it's working.
