While we are on the subject... NO DEX VI....

Dex VI is special low viscosity synthetic transmission fluid that GM developed to help with the miserable MPG on their SUV/Truck line-up

I read the Wikipedia entry on Dex VI. It is SUPPOSED to be backward compatible with everything...but I have trusted what GM said before and lost 100% of my investment in their stock....so I bought Dex III.

I see now that the politicians get to participate in the "new" GM stock IPO. So glad they're looking out for us little people. I can hardly wait for the next problem them solve...except they'll have to make one up first.

Any one of above as a higher supersedes the one below. Cannot hurt your vehicle.

This post is a must read. It clarifies the trans oil game. I'm copying some of it for my FIL who drives an 05 Duramax with the Allison.

Thanks, FANTIC. A+ content.

It is a nice piece on the differences in the fluids.
Its a bit old on some of the particular company specifics. In fact, Amsoil does offer a differentiated product for the low viscosity specifications. Mercon LV and SP, Dex VI and the Toyota WS. But that really is not a huge issue.
