DEI Heat Soak Prevention Kit
It's been really hot out lately here in PA. I Installed the following kit about 2.5 months ago:
https://www.quadratec.com/products/17604_1031.htm
My Jeep used to have terrible vapor lock during the summer. Mostly, after short stops like at the gas station.
So far, this kit has eliminated my problem. I will also mention, I have replaced my stock injectors with 784s. I'm not sure how profound of an effect different injectors will have, but I wanted to state that for scientific purposes.
If your on the fence, I would get this kit and at least give it a try. Especially you 00-01 guys.
Cheers

Great!
I also recommend installing that kit especially for the 00 and 01 XJ's.
I installed that kit years ago and it did work in mildly hot weather (maybe up to 95 deg.F) but did not totally cure the problem in extremely hot weather coming off a long 70 mph drive from the freeway then parking it for a short while. Talking 100+ deg.F.
It also seemed to depend on how long the engine was shut down.
I learned back then before i installed my electric fan delay to park into the breeze.
If no breeze, toss of the dice whether it acted up!

I solved my heat soak problems a different way: 4.6L stroker with 24 lb. injectors and a Banks Torque Tubes header ceramic coated at Swain. I haven't had a heat soak issue since. I highly recommend it.

Seriously, shaky, I have to stop reading your posts. I have come very close to putting a stroker in a few times over the last several years due to your influence.

He's evil. There's no doubt about it.
Just out of curiosity, any idea if hood louvers would help?

I personally don't know. There was/is a known heatsoak issue on later MY XJ's and ChryCo issued a bulletin addressing it.
Never had an issue w/my '98 but, tbh it's just something I purchased to install to put my own mind at ease.

I was going to use some of this thermal insulation mat. Says it's flame retarding and good for high heat + thermal rejection.
Paired with some of those stainless zip ties or maybe just wrapping it with their thermo-tec tape. This way I can do the battery, o2 sensor wires, and whatever else I can think of.

Just my luck. Amazon reported having 5 in stock but I was just notified that they are back ordered. That mean never as the company who made them does make them any more. Thanks for the link anyway. If you hear of any other let me know. I'll try bling and some others.
On another note I spent yesterday replacing the fuel pressure regulator in my '81 Bronco. FUN as they put it in the back under the plenum. Truck was run like crap but is good again. I had the same thing happen to my Z28 Camaro. )(*&^%$%^&*( crap they call fuel now days.

If I had heat soak issues I might consider fabbing my own manifold heat shield, just a rectangle really. They come stock on 97-90 which is what I have. (and no heat soak issues) (Jethro, where's my cookie sheet!)
