Dashboard Red Light On???? What is it???
Hi, We own a 2002 Jeep Cherokee Limited CRD. Over the last week or so there has been a red light illuminated which is not described in the users handbooks. The light is between the fuel dial and the rev count dial, to the left of the Full time light. Its obviously on for a reason but I am unable to find an answer.
Any help would be much appreciated!!! Regards Lee:help: |
post a pic of the light

hi
I've scanned the picture from my operating handbook and coloured in where the red light is!! regards Lee:help: |
can you take a picture of it on your jeep, of the actual dash with the light on, that picture doesn't help much.
if its not on at the moment, the first few seconds with the key on, all the bulbs light up for a bulb check, you could point it out that way. |

Right i've taken a couple of pics of the actual dash
I've circled where the light comes on! Hope this is ok. Lee |
man, i'm not trying to be a pain, but thats no help either. i don't have that dash, never seen that on a cherokee before. is it a grand? take a pic with it lit up if you can.
|
its my wifes car and it comes up when it feels like, basically the circled area has a red light in it, which has not been lit in the previous 2 yrs we have had the car.
its ok i guess i'll have to take it in. regards Lee |
does it light up for the first few seconds you turn the key on?
|
it's on during driving, not when start up.
|
I didnt think they made cherokees in 2002? are you sure its not a grand? and that dash does look different then most ive ever seen.

i thought the crd is a diesel maybe he is in another country. or maybe he has the liberty

Big is right no 2002 Cherokee (XJ) mostlikely a 2002 Grand Cherokee.
Hence the completely different dash configuration. Probably get more/better reponses posting this in the GC portion of this forum. |

if it doesnt show in the owners manual, and its specced for an alternate market, not too much chance of being able to ID the mystery light... |
ok - finally found it on the Jeep website - its the security alarm indicator light. its supposed to blink in assorted codes when your alarm is armed / disarmed. if its on solid, somethings amiss with the alarm system ... check the batteries in the remotes, etc, but it'll most likley end up being a dealer visit, to get them to scan the security system, and find out whats up.

its a USA liberty.
