Dash gauge cluster light conversion
 

I have a 96 xj and I’m looking to change the gauge lights to red. How hard is it to pull the gauge cluster out and does anyone know where I can find the bulbs? I’ve found them for 97-01 but nothing older. Are they the same bulb?

You just have to remove the screws holding it in place, which *should* be visible towards the top of the far edges of the cluster. You just remove them, take the cluster out, unplug the harnesses, and you might have to remove some screws holding the circuit boards in place, then you can remove the bulbs. You can certainly change the color of the bulbs! Where did you try looking for bulbs? Did you try eBay or Amazon? Or a local auto parts store? BTW, red would look awesome on an older XJ!!! :)

I’ve looked on eBay and I’m starting to wonder if the bulbs are the same size. That would make sense but I’m not sure. Thank you for the help!
